Solar Industry In Good Shape With Further Compliance On The Way

The solar industry is booming like never before and is going to get in better shape with more compliance announcements on the way. The Clean Energy Council has welcomed the release of a compliance package to improve the regulation of the rooftop solar PV sector.

Also, as per the acknowledgement report of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, there were no issues of poor behaviour or disrespect in the sector till now, which has also played a role in the popularity of the industry.

Almost every one home out of four is powered with solar energy with rooftop solar panels, and homeowners are quite satisfied with their experience of installing solar panels.

The review announced in August 2020 streamlined the role various bodies, including federal and state agencies, played in covering consumer protection, electrical safety, retail practices and economic regulation.

The Clean Energy Council Chief Executive, Kane Thornton said that “it is appropriate to continually reflect and improve the regulatory framework to ensure industry integrity and the Clean Energy Council has been undertaking its co-regulatory role diligently for a long period of time”.

The solar industry has already begun its process of growing with increased training and awareness campaigns and more demand for accredited installers to be on-site during installations.

CEC is committed to raising the bar of quality and efficiency by improving the standards and introducing new compliance along with advocating for further regulatory reform, creating a national electrical safety body and introducing Australia wide inspection regimes.
