Grid-Connected PV Systems Design Only

Grid-Connected PV Systems Design Only

Fees:
$1,595

Units:
UEERE0054 and UEERE0061

Course Duration:
25 hours, 100% Online Self-paced Course

Grid-Connected Photovoltaic Systems Design Only course is mainly for electricians, engineers or Non engineers or electricians who wish to learn how to design grid-connected photovoltaic systems.

This course is designed as a 100% Online Self-paced Course.

Electricians who successfully complete the course will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units UEERE0054 and UEERE0061.

Engineers will receive a Certificate of Completion meeting the CEC’s requirements for Grid-connect Design Provisional Accreditation.

Non engineers or electricians may take this course for their own knowledge, but there currently isn’t a pathway to accreditation at this time.

Training Outcome

Successful completion of the course will award the Student with a Statement of Attainment or Certificate of Completion in the current version of the following Units of Competency:
UEERE0054
Conduct site survey for grid-connected photovoltaic and battery storage systems
UEERE0061
Design grid-connected photovoltaic power supply systems
Electricians and students holding the prerequisite Units of Competency will receive a Statement of Attainment for the current version of these Units of Competency.

Statement of Attainment upon completion of the course will be given to students who have either of the following:

  • An unrestricted electrical license issued by an Australian state or territory
  • Competency in the following units by Statements of Attainment or authenticated USI transcript:
  • UEENEEE104A
  • UEENEEG106A or UEENEEE108A
  • UEENEEE137A

If students do not meet the above requirement, but wish to apply for CEC accreditation upon completion of the course, they must demonstrate sufficient prior electrical knowledge through An electrical engineering degree recognised by the Washington Accord.

Students who do not meet any of the prerequisites described, can attempt the course for self-learning without CEC accreditation but please note that there is heavy use of computers, calculators and mathematical equations, so it is strongly recommended that students should have prior knowledge of mathematics, as well as computer and calculator skills.

Online mode: The course will be delivered 100% online and can complete the course at students’ own pace.

Online Course Timeframe: The time to complete the online component will differ between students, but students should expect to commit around 56 hours (40 hours for online content and assessments, and 16 hours for the design task)

The validation period of the Courses is twelve (12) months. Extension fees will apply after the date of expiry, and the maximum extension period allowed is six (6) months from the date of expiry.

ETG has a team of tutors who mark the online work and as necessary supply feedback or additional technical information to the students. ETG’s tutors are also available to be contacted by phone during business hours or email.

Students are supplied with the publication Grid-Connected PV Systems Design and Installation 8th Edition as part of enrolment. Students are responsible for obtaining current copies of the following Australian Standards, available for purchase from the SAI Global website or Techstreet website, and also available from some libraries, institutions and industry associations:

  • AS/NZS 5033 – Photovoltaic arrays
  • AS/NZS 4777.1 – Grid connection of energy systems via inverters
  • AS/NZS 3000 – Wiring rules
  • AS/NZS 3008.1.1 – Selection of cables Part 1.1

Students enrolled in the course must ensure that they have:

  • Computer with a reliable Internet connection
  • Scientific calculator
  • Email account, which they check regularly

In accordance with the Australian Quality Framework, Energy Training Group is fully committed to ensuring quality education for all students. We make sure the course process is:

  • Fair
  • Flexible
  • Reliable
  • Valid

Energy Training Group can engage in a recognition of prior learning evaluation on request of the candidate. Our organisation does not offer entry-level VET sector training.
