The Victorian Government recently invested an amount of up to $11 million in training to make the solar revolution a safer one. It has partnered to provide solar specific training with the Department of Education and Training with assistance from WorkSafe and Energy Safe Victoria. This is done to make sure all industry workers have the knowledge and skills to complete their jobs safely without compromising with the standards and compliance.
Under this training package, Solar Victoria is funding the development of validated learning to improve the count of Licensed Electrical Inspectors in the state. It is also focused on helping existing inspectors in refining their solar skills and capabilities. This move will initiate more jobs and improve the solar standards in the industry.
Who Will Get Benefitted With This Investment?
The customised training provided under this investment will develop, upskill, and support:
- Licenced Electrical Inspectors
- Solar Industry Retailers
- CEC Accredited Installers
- Solar Installation Customers
More than 2,000 workers have already benefitted from this mandatory training to provide solar installation services under the Solar Homes Program. The Solar Homes Program was launched in 2018 and provided rebates of more than $270 million to help Victorian households generate their own renewable energy.
