Units

UEERE0054, UEERE0061, UEERE0080 and UEERE0081

The Grid- Connected Photovoltaic Systems Design & Install course consists of two main components:
  1. Online theory completed at students’ own pace with tutor support.
  2. A Online + Classroom  (2 days) practical component held at the training facility of Energy Training Group.
The delivery mode of this course is designed for busy tradespeople who do not have the time to attend lengthy Online + Classroom courses to expand their knowledge and skills: the fully flexible web-based format of the online component allows students to complete the theory in their own time. To enrol in this course, you must be a licensed electrician or electrical apprentice. Energy Training Group is a Nationally Recognised Training Organisation, and students who successfully complete this course will be issued a Statement of Attainment for the units of competency UEERE0054, UEERE0061, UEERE0080, and UEERE0081.

Training Outcome

Successful completion of the course will award the Student with a Statement of Attainment in the current version of the following Units of Competency
UEERE0054
Conduct site survey for grid-connected photovoltaic and battery storage systems
UEERE0061
Design grid-connected photovoltaic power supply systems
UEERE0080
Install photovoltaic power conversion equipment to grid
UEERE0081
Install photovoltaic systems to power conversion equipment
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be eligible to apply to the Solar Accreditation Australia for the Design & Installation of Grid-Connect PV Systems accreditation.

An unrestricted electrical licence issued by an Australian state or territory is a prerequisite for enrolment in this course.

Electrical apprentices may enrol in this course, however they will need to wait until they are issued their unrestricted licence before being awarded a Statement of Attainment OR show they have completed the prerequisite Units of Competency or equivalents in their studies already:

One of:
UEEEL0039 Design, install and verify compliance and functionality of general electrical installations
UEERE0051 Apply electrical principles to renewable energy design
UEEEL0012 Install low voltage wiring, appliances, switchgear and associated accessories

This course used two delivery methods:

  • Online theory completed at students’ own pace.
  • 2-day face-to-face practical component held at an Energy training Group Training Facility

Online component: The time to complete the online component will differ between students, but students should expect to commit around 56 hours (40 hours for online content and assessments, and 16 hours for the design task).

Practical component: Approximately 60% of the online assessments must be completed before attending the face-to-face practical component.

The validation period of the Courses is twelve (12) months.  Extension fees will apply from the date of expiry, and the maximum extension period allowed is six (6) months from the date of expiry.

Students are responsible for obtaining current copies of the following Australian Standards, available for purchase from the SAI Global website or Techstreet website, and also available from some libraries, institutions and industry associations:

  • AS/NZS 5033 – Photovoltaic arrays
  • AS/NZS 4777.1 – Grid connection of energy systems via inverters
  • AS/NZS 3000 – Wiring rules
  • AS/NZS 3008.1.1 – Selection of cables Part 1.1

Students enrolled in the course must ensure that they have:

  • Computer with a reliable Internet connection
  • Scientific calculator
  • Email account which they check regularl
